What should I do while I wait?
Move valuables, put a bucket under the drip and switch off electrics near the water if it is safe to do so.
Will the temporary repair be enough?

How can I cut the risk of storm damage?
Have the roof inspected regularly, keep gutters clear so water drains away, trim back branches that overhang the roof, and get loose tiles and tired lead around chimneys and vents fixed before the bad weather. Small jobs now save bigger bills later.
Does an emergency call mean work can start on the roof immediately?
Conditions decide that. Strong winds or unsafe access can prevent roof-level work even when the problem is urgent.
