Rising damp comes up from the ground, penetrating damp comes through the walls or roof, and condensation forms inside when the air has nowhere to go. Each one needs a different fix.

What types of damp do you treat?
Rising damp, penetrating damp and condensation. The inspection tells us which one you have, because each needs a different treatment.
What is a chemical damp proof course?
A water-resistant cream or fluid injected into the wall to form a barrier that stops moisture rising from the ground. It is a quick, cost-effective fix for rising damp in an existing house.
Can a roof or gutter cause damp?
Yes. Leaking gutters, failed pointing and split lead flashings are some of the most common causes of damp on upper walls, and we fix those too.
Do you tank basements and cellars?
Yes. We apply waterproof tanking to walls and floors below ground, and fit drainage membranes where water needs carrying away.
Is the quote free?
Yes. The site visit and the written quote are free, and there is no call-out charge.
Does a moisture meter reading identify the cause by itself?
A reading needs context from the building and other observations. It is not enough on its own to specify treatment.
Can I cover the patch with waterproof paint immediately?
Choose decoration after the moisture source and drying needs are understood. An unsuitable coating can interfere with drying and conceal changes.

Build a treatment around the evidence
- Record the pattern. Note when marks change and which rooms are affected. Heating, ventilation and rainfall history help frame the investigation.
- Examine ground levels. Paving and soil against a wall can affect its ability to stay dry. Compare external levels with the internal floor.
- Check wall construction. Solid walls, cavities and below-ground surfaces behave differently. Treatment needs to suit the construction.
- Agree the intervention. Separate moisture control from repairs to damaged finishes. Plan disruption around that sequence.
- Plan the drying. Allow the wall's condition to guide reinstatement. Fresh decoration should follow a suitable drying and finishing plan for the affected area.
Treatments with different purposes
- Injected damp course. An injected barrier is an option where rising moisture is established. It does not address unrelated condensation or rainfall entry.
- Wall membranes. A specified membrane separates a vulnerable finish from the wall behind. Its terminations and surrounding construction require consideration together.
- Below-ground systems. Tanking and drained membranes take different approaches to water below ground. The property assessment determines which approach suits the space.
- Ventilation improvements. Improved airflow addresses moisture generated indoors. Existing vents, room use and extraction routes help identify the appropriate changes.
How long damp proofing takes
The treatment itself is only one part of a damp project. Opening up affected finishes, completing external repairs and allowing moisture to dissipate all influence the schedule. Thick walls and saturated masonry take time to dry, so decoration should follow the assessed condition rather than a fixed date.
